Attendees at the 2024 Salcare Christmas Awards Gala

Local MP presents trophies at charity Christmas Awards Gala

Community charity, Salcare, held its annual Awards Gala on Friday 29 November at Makeney Hall in Derbyshire. The event, which saw 92 attendees, raised over £7000 for charity on the night, with additional donations continuing to come in. The awards were presented to winners by local Amber Valley MP, Lindsey Farnsworth.

Salcare is a community charity which provides practical and emotional support for survivors of domestic abuse and those living in poverty. It offers services for individuals in Amber Valley and Erewash and works closely with organisations such as Social Services, homeless services, the Police and other local charities.

The black-tie event recognised and celebrated the hard work of volunteers, staff, partners and supporters who have delivered much needed services to the local community throughout the year. The evening consisted of a drinks reception, sponsored by Gillotts Funeral Directors, followed by a three course meal, with wine sponsored by Evolve Business Finance and TFG Capital Limited, the awards ceremony itself, and entertainment from Brad Matthews, sponsored by TLF Utilities, which included live music, a photobooth and a DJ set.

The Awards Gala also included an auction and raffle with approximately £1800 worth of prizes donated by local organisations such as Motorpoint Arena, Derby County FC, Nottingham Panthers and more. Thanks to the generosity of the community, attendees were able to bid on items including sports tickets, hampers, executive suites and signed memorabilia, with all proceeds going directly to support the incredible work undertaken by Salcare.

Of the event, Salcare’s Interim Director of Services, Don Davis, said: “Our annual Christmas Awards Gala is always a highlight, it moves me to see such generosity from the local community in their donations and sponsorships and I am always thrilled that our award ceremony recognises the individuals and organisations who have gone above and beyond throughout the year.”

“It was great to have Amber Valley’s MP, Linsey Farnsworth, present the awards and for her to see the impact that charities like Salcare have on members of the community. We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this year’s event; sponsors, attendees, auction purchasers, volunteers, staff and friends of Salcare – we are truly grateful for your ongoing help in making these Awards so special.”
