Sexual Violence & Abuse Service
Our Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) service offers free and confidential support for anyone in Derbyshire who has experienced rape, sexual abuse or sexual violence.
How can this service help?
Our ISVAs provide emotional and practical advice and support for people who have experienced rape, sexual abuse, or any other type of sexual violence, at any time in their lives. The service is open to all survivors aged 18 and over, however you identify.
We aim to give you support and information so that you can make informed choices, take control of your situation, and rebuild your life.
Our ISVA service can:
- Help you to get the support you need and decide what to do
- Support you to access healthcare and explain your options
- Provide information about the legal process, so that you can make an informed decision about whether to report to the police
- Support you in making a report to the police and at all stages of the legal process
- Attend court with you if you have no one else to support you
- Liaise with the police for regular updates and keep you informed of developments
- Advocate for you with the police and other agencies, if needed
- Signpost any other support you may need, such as housing, healthcare, or counselling
You can request support from our ISVA service by completing our referral form .
Once we receive your referral form, an ISVA will contact you, for an initial chat and to arrange a time and place to meet. This will normally be within five working days of receiving your form, excluding weekends. Please note we do not do home visits, except in exceptional circumstances.
